A short story about the name of Mar Dulce Travel Agency: First, in 2000 the travel agency began the procedure inte Tourism office, now it's Ministerio to open the shop. We thought that it had to be a historical name and it could refer to an important fact to distinguish in our city. In this way, first, we think in our country,a and it's name.
The word Argentina belongs to latin argentuna (silver). It was long time ago when Pedrode Mendoza spoke about the region in the Rio de la Plata. The portuguese people said that there were rumours about of precious metals. At last the name was Rio de la Plata.
That was the reason that we could see, that Rio River was very important to us. The the Rio (river) recibed as first name "Mar Dulce" because of his beauty, and his wonderful waters.
The first part of this story begins in Febreurary 1516, when Juan Diaz de Solis, believed to find the straight found and discovered "Mar Dulce" called Santa Maria river and Solis river too. But he discovered the Rio de la Plata river. This name seemed to us that it was a nice name.
We thought that the travel agenc would have a name with a proper story.
Place of the week: MENDOZA
Mendoza is a city in western Argentina and up the whole department capital of the province of Mendoza (Argentina). Located in the foothills of the glacis of the Andes mountain range, occupies 57 km2, while its metropolitan area, known as Gran Mendoza, extends 168 km ². According to INDEC census in 2010, has 114 822 inhabitants, together with those of the metropolitan area, the Gran Mendoza, amount to 848,660 inhabitants (INDEC, 2001), making it the fourth largest agglomeration in the country. It is also a municipality, made up entirely of the territory formerly known as Department of Capital (Mendoza). The trend of population evolution for the jurisdiction is almost neutral because there is no space available for construction of new viviendas.1 This situation is compounded of many affluent families choose to live in gated communities or private, off-center of the city, bringing the population growth of the agglomerate is recorded in the remaining districts of the Greater Mendoza. The basis of the present city emerged from a new arrangement made in 1863 after the earthquake of 1861, the French surveyor Balloffet July and includes the strategic readiness of children four seats circling a square. Economic activity is linked to the industry (production of wine, food and other beverages) and the extraction and refining of oil. It is also a major tourist center and university.
Mendoza has a temperate continental arid, temperatures have a significant annual oscillation and rainfall is scarce. Summer is hot and humid, is the rainiest season and average temperatures are above 25 ° C. Winter is cold and dry, with average temperatures below 8 ° C, occasional night frosts and low rainfall. Falling snow and sleet are rare, usually occur once a year, but with little intensity in the higher areas of the city. During the winter of 2007, it snowed 6 times in the heart of the city, being that for more than 20 years that this was not. [Citation needed] The area in which it is founded has semi-desert climate and water supply is only possible in the oasis, where the rivers that descend from the heights of the Andes pour his turbulent torrents of water. Within the major cities are built canals, responsible for watering the trees on the sides of the streets.
WONDER OF THE WORLD: IGUAZU FALLS
Iguazu Falls are arranged in a way that seems a reverse J. On the right bank is the Brazilian territory, which has just over 20% of the jumps of these falls, and the left side jumps are Argentines, which make up almost 80% of the falls. To completely and fully appreciate the falls, the recommendation is to visit both the Argentine and Brazilian side, as one side is a panorama of the other, and vice versa. Those who know have said, more or less, that "from Brazil are the falls, and from Argentina is living" [3]. However, one moves between the jumps on the Argentine side, not only for gateways that allow almost touch the water, but also boat tours that allow you to jump up next to the stunning waterfalls, and even, it can delve to the very Devil's Throat, if one starts by boat from Argentina.
